Overview

Since 2015, Google.org has worked to extend the reach of nonprofit innovators by connecting them with support through funding, tools, and volunteers from throughout Google. They identify with nonprofits using technology and innovation to tackle complex global challenges.

Problem:

How might Google.org, employees, and community partners engage with and inspire each other to be more proactive in their respective communities?

My Role:

 Graphic Designer

Audience:

Google Employees & Community Partners

Duration:

 2 Months

Gather Intel:

Between June 13th-15th, 2017, Google.org held a summit in Mountain View for Googlers who want to become ambassadors in their community and discover ways to apply themselves in their communities. I was in charge of creating a new interim identity for the event, along with print collateral.

My clients provided all branding collateral with an 8-page brand guideline for use.

Develop Solutions

The Googler's lead, Chelsea Seabron, already curated a majority of the programming for the event.

What was left was for me to assemble the work in a way that was visually pleasing while convincing onlookers that they were made by an internal team, or even better yet, that they had’t noticed a difference.

Ambassador Logo

The GooglersGive logo was the inspiration behind the Google Ambassadors logo. The logo consists of a bi-color ribbon that folds into itself to form the shape of a heart. Talking about that same concept, I created a version playing with the "A" for "ambassador." Below is a visual of my design flow for the logo.

Feedback

Over 150 employees worldwide met for this summit, all with the same goal to be leaders in their respected communities.

Improve

Initially, I was requested to print all collateral and physically bring it from my studio to the Googleplex, about a 90-minute drive. But since I didn't have the bandwidth to handle that task, we reached out to a Verified Google vendor located nearby in Mountain View. They printed the collateral and delivered on-site.  In the future I’ll outline
